Plait is a multifunctional community centre for afro diasporic women to feel, to be, and touch humanity on our own terms.
It is an intimate space where there is room to reclaim what has been repressed, to redefine womanhood outside the marginalization of society and to support each other in embracing roots and identity. With space to breath, black women can find healing and liberation.

Plait is designed through the utilization of the protective spirit of braids.
Braids are a symbolism of a black woman rite of passage. They are a binding pattern created from iteration where the output of one stage becomes the input of the next. A form of communication that is learned from ancestral roots and brought forward to the future in a form of self acceptance and self love. Each space is curated with the intention to bring forward by giving users access to :
